Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development (KazAID) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to increase cooperation on development assistance that fosters social, political, and economic stability and security in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

USAID, represented by Regional Mission Director Christopher Edwards, and KazAID, represented by Chief Executive Officer Dastan Yeleukenov, signed the MoU to direct their cooperation towards promoting democratic principles and good governance, protecting human rights, expanding economic prosperity, ensuring social stability, improving health and well-being, and eradicating poverty in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Together, the expertise, programs, and resources of USAID and KazAID will support governments, civil society, and the private sector in partner countries to achieve their own development objectives by helping to build their capacity to deliver high-quality and sustainable development outcomes in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
