The workforce in the Mekong Delta is being impacted by the negative effects of climate change, where traditional employment in agriculture is no longer a reliable means of livelihood. To promote private sector investment in upskilling this workforce, on August 25, USAID, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Investment's National Innovation Center, supported a workshop on digital literacy training opportunities for laborers who want to move from agricultural or non-tech sectors to the information technology sector. The workshop also provided attendees with information on job opportunities and scholarships so they can engage in the growing Vietnamese digital economy.

USAID partners with Vietnam to increase the number of highly skilled workers, expanding digital workforce skills beyond urban centers to bridge gender and urban-rural digital divides, and transforming the manufacturing workforce from producing low value goods to high value technology intensive goods.
