Vietnam is USAID’s largest and longest running disability program in the world. This support has improved the development of the rehabilitation sector, providing essential services to persons with disabilities. On April 24-25, USAID and the Department of Health in Quang Nam province co-organized a technical seminar to discuss their experiences in rehabilitation service provision for persons with disabilities. More than 70 health care professionals attended as well as representatives from organizations supporting persons with disabilities. They shared lessons learned, achievements, and challenges in multi-disciplinary rehabilitation, provision of assistive devices, and home based care for persons with disabilities.
Better understanding and cooperation between health care professionals and persons with disabilities improves the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of rehabilitation services.
