USAID is supporting the national voter registration process in Afghanistan through a PIO grant to the UNDP – ELECT project.  This project serves as the primary donor funding mechanism for voter registration exercises in Afghanistan.  The program’s objectives include review and assess the feasibility of a combined civil and voter registration system, recommendations for a national voter registration system that allows broad public participation in the national elections, leveraging US funding with those from other donors, including the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and implementation of a national voter registration system throughout Afghanistan that includes public education on the voter registration system.
