ADMINISTRATOR SAMANTHA POWER: You told me in our many meetings about the beauty of the country and the warmth of the people, but I should say to the world, you have to come to believe it.

I am really glad to be here. We've had such an important collaboration with your administration, protecting the environment, trying to create jobs out of the pandemic – a very difficult economic time – working on your personal passion project, which is malnutrition, and trying to address something that no mother, no father should ever have to experience with their child. And, of course, working together to design new programs on citizens' security. And I was able to launch a $17 million program yesterday that I really hope can make a difference in bringing the community in to support officials to combat the spike in crime and violence.

I feel like the U.S.-Ecuadorian partnership has never been stronger. And I think all of the discussions we have had about what we can do to support economic development here in Ecuador, and to support democratic institutions speak to just how thick and deep that relationship has become, so I am just really grateful to you. Thank you.
