Press Release

The below is attributable to Spokesperson Rebecca Chalif:

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met virtually with CEOs from leading non-governmental organizations, philanthropies, and the private sector to discuss collaborative efforts that will advance shared nutrition goals.

Administrator Power discussed USAID’s leadership in the U.S. Government’s fight against malnutrition through its Multi-sectoral Nutrition Strategy and the Feed the Future initiative. At the UN Food Systems Summit, the United States pledged a multi-year, $5 billion investment in Feed the Future, expanding efforts around the world to combat hunger and malnutrition and build sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems. The CEOs discussed their initiative to elevate nutrition as a critical element to accelerating the social and economic transformation of developing countries.

Administrator Power agreed with the CEOs that December’s Nutrition for Growth Summit in Tokyo offered an excellent opportunity for governments, donors, and the private sector to ”double down” on financial commitments to end malnutrition.
