Today, Administrator Power met with Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov on the margins of the UN General Assembly. The Administrator and Foreign Minister discussed ways to continue strengthening U.S.-Uzbekistan cooperation related to the security and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. The Administrator and Foreign Minister reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing efforts to advance sustainable development in Uzbekistan through improved health, education, governance, and economic growth, as well as continued collaboration to end the COVID-19 pandemic. They also discussed the importance of a free and fair presidential election in Uzbekistan next month.
