Statement by Acting Administrator Gloria Steele

On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), we wish a “Chag Sameach” to Jewish communities around the world as they tell the story of Passover. Still relevant today, the commemoration of the Israelites freedom after 400 years of slavery in Egypt is a palpable reminder about the importance of freedom for all people.

For decades, a constant theme of USAID’s work on behalf of the American people has been to support freedom, human dignity, and democracy around the world. On this Passover, I would also like to thank our USAID employees and implementing partners celebrating this important holiday, for their dedication to these values. I am proud to work with all of you as we address the challenges that affect our interconnected global community.
