Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. They discussed Moldova’s priorities and progress advancing judicial reform and gender equity, and U.S. assistance for Moldova’s reform agenda, economic resilience, and energy security. 

Administrator Power acknowledged the difficult steps Moldova is taking to strengthen its democracy and reiterated that USAID will continue to support Moldova’s aspiration to forge a democratic, European future. The Administrator conveyed USAID’s appreciation for the Moldovan government’s cooperation, transparency, and accountability with respect to U.S. government assistance. Administrator Power and Speaker Grosu also discussed how USAID can support the Government of Moldova in harnessing the energy and skills of the Moldovan diaspora.
