On July 12, Administrator Samantha Power met with Armenian Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan. They discussed USAID’s support for Armenia across various sectors, including democratization, energy, and economic growth. Administrator Power recognized Armenia’s commitment to greater economic and energy independence, democratization, and anti-corruption. The Administrator confirmed that USAID stands ready to further build the resilience and capability of Armenia’s government institutions and connections with its people.

Secretary Grigoryan and Administrator Power also discussed the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and shared their concerns about the health and well-being of its population. The Administrator expressed deep concern regarding closure of the Lachin Corridor, halting most humanitarian traffic, and called for free and open transit through the corridor to be restored immediately.
