Press Release

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the world’s premier development agency, fully supports and recognizes the power and innovation that lies within its workforce. The diversity of our talented colleagues is our greatest strength, and brings expertise, passion, and commitment to advancing our mission. USAID is committed to increasing the diversity of our workforce and ensuring equity, inclusion, engagement, and respect in our workplace. These are all keys to success.

On day one of his administration, President Biden signed the Executive Order On Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, rescinding Executive Order 13950 and clearly affirming his Administration’s prioritization of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in policies and programs throughout the U.S. Government. USAID is committed to celebrating and increasing diversity while expanding and fostering inclusion and equity. We immediately reinstated DEI and related training as well as fora that are critical to advancing DEI priorities. Our diverse workforce, wherever they serve around the world, can be assured that USAID’s leadership is committed to DEI, and our efforts will be transparent, and resourced.

USAID is committed to creating space for open and honest dialogue, supporting necessary changes to policy and practice, and ensuring accountability as we move forward to center diversity, equity, and inclusion as key foundations of our workplace and our work.
