Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman traveled to Liberia this week, where she attended the inauguration of President Joseph Boakai as a member of the U.S. Presidential Delegation. While in Liberia, the Deputy Administrator met with government officials, civil society, and private sector representatives to discuss the U.S.-Liberia relationship and to highlight the U.S. government’s work to support anti-corruption, equitable healthcare, and youth employment.
Deputy Administrator Coleman visited the Soniwein Health Center in Monrovia, witnessing firsthand USAID’s investments in health systems and its work to improve the quality of malaria services. Deputy Administrator Coleman then hosted a discussion with Liberian anti-corruption advocates who are leading efforts to increase accountability, transparency, and peace across the country. The Deputy Administrator spoke with Liberian agribusiness entrepreneurs and other private sector partners who are collaborating with USAID to create jobs and uplift their local communities.
During her time in Liberia, Deputy Administrator Coleman spoke with USAID staff and thanked them for their tireless work and contributions to locally-led development in the region.
