Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Svenja Schulze, Germany’s Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, to discuss the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria's (Global Fund) Seventh Replenishment as well as the global food security crisis.

Administrator Power expressed her appreciation for Germany’s tremendous leadership and financial support on global health, including the emergency response needs for COVID-19 and strong support for global health security. She relayed that the United States joins Germany in recognizing the essential role that Global Fund investments serve in getting the world back on track to end these three infectious diseases and strengthen health systems. The United States is hosting the Global Fund Seventh Replenishment Conference in New York City in September.

Administrator Power and Minister Schulze also discussed efforts to partner together to protect the world’s most vulnerable populations, including treatment for acute malnutrition, from the escalating global food security crisis exacerbated by Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.
