Yesterday, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with Sir Jeremy Farrar, Director of Wellcome Trust, to discuss COVID-19 response and pandemic preparedness, and new Wellcome Trust priorities on addressing climate and mental health.
Deputy Administrator Coleman thanked Sir Jeremy Farrar and Wellcome Trust for their leadership and support in helping to address the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically pertaining to medical oxygen and oral therapeutics. They discussed the roles both organizations play in addressing mental health and psychosocial support for vulnerable populations, global health security and infectious disease, as well as how changes in the climate are impacting health. They also discussed opportunities for continued collaboration and future partnerships in these key priority areas.
