Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the Green Climate Fund Executive Director Yannick Glemarec, on increasing the pace of climate financing for developing countries following COP27. They discussed ways to strengthen the Green Climate Fund’s localization efforts, including the potential of customizing approval processes based on the size of the investment, and increasing the amount of climate finance that is locally-led and locally-managed by partner countries and communities.
The Administrator and Mr. Glemarec also discussed opportunities for USAID to continue to assist partner countries with accessing Green Climate Fund financing by improving the pipeline of investment-ready projects through partnerships and technical assistance programs.
