On April 16-17, USAID Mission Director Pamela Fessenden kicked off the first-ever Nzeru Zathu “Our Knowledge” Youth Learning Summit. The event attracted more than 250 stakeholders, predominantly youth, and was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The two-day summit offered a unique platform for  youth leaders across various sectors in Malawi to exchange insights, analyze youth data and practices, and glean lessons from each other's experiences in youth engagement and development. The summit attracted a diverse audience, including youth, Government of Malawi staff, USAID Malawi staff, USAID implementing partners, youth-led organizations, non-governmental organizations, district staff, and development partners. In a country where almost 80 percent of the population is under 35 years old, USAID's support reflects a continued commitment to empowering and harnessing youth potential for a prosperous and self-reliant Malawi.
