In Kosovo, community groups and local leaders are now using mobile applications, to improve communication and collaboration to advance community objectives. Gjilan and Obiliq officials have embraced viber, a commonly used app among communities in Kosovo, a result of their participation in USAID Social Contract Activity workshops, where they committed to transparency and effective citizen communication.

This progressive communication strategy establishes a direct and timely channel for public updates on policies, projects, and initiatives. The public response has been remarkable, with hundreds of citizens joining the platform in the initial days. The inclusive nature of the app, welcoming citizens of all ages and backgrounds, underscores its broad appeal. The approach ensures that community members receive prompt notifications about the latest developments, fostering an informed and engaged public.

The USAID Social Contract Activity promotes sustainable public participation practices, strengthening the citizen-municipal government partnership, addressing citizen needs, and ultimately enhancing the quality of life for Kosovo citizens.
