Mosquito bed nets are a cheap and efficient way to prevent malaria. However, delivering these bed nets from warehouses located in regional hubs of Ethiopia to families living in remote areas of the country where there are no roads can be extremely difficult. As part of the President’s Malaria Initiative, USAID is using the help of camels to fight malaria. These camel caravans deliver long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets to people living in the northeastern region of Afar and other hard-to-reach areas.
