Nancy Ostrowski is a USAID Commissioned Foreign Service Officer currently serving as the Country Repre-sentative to the Republic of Djibouti. Previously, she served at the Pentagon, as the Acting Senior Development Advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy. Ms. Ostrowski joined the Pentagon team after nine years of service overseas in Africa and Eastern Europe. In Pretoria, South Africa, she served as the Acting Office Director for the Regional Economic Growth Office.

She was also one of the Agency’s first Mission Civilian Military Coordinators (MC2). Her previous assignments include Chisinau, Moldova, where she served as the Program Economist; followed by Juba, South Sudan, where she was the Deputy Office Director for the Economic Growth Office. Ms. Ostrowski is a Distinguished Graduate of the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School, where she received a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy with a Concentration in Global Health Strategy. In addition, she holds an MA in Business Economics from the University of South Florida and BS degrees in International Relations and Business Economics.

She speaks Italian, Spanish, French, and Romanian. Prior to joining USAID, she worked as a market analyst for a Fortune 500 company, for a U.S. trade advocacy group, and as a consultant for a global wildlife conservation company. She has taught university courses in Economics and Italian and is a published author of two non-fiction works.  She is the daughter of a Silver Star and Bronze Star Vietnam Veteran and is married to Brian, who is a Department of State FSO and US Army Reserve Officer.
