Job Title: Intern (Unpaid) – Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives (“CFBCI”)

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State and fosters transformational development around the world. Our headquarters is centrally located in downtown Washington, DC, at the prestigious Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. We are located next to the Federal Triangle Metro. Our office is in within walking distance of many major attractions.
This internship is not-to-exceed 1-year and can be extended based on the needs of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements.
This internship position (unpaid) is located in the Office of the Administrator, within the Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives (“CFBCI”). This office works to better equip faith-based and community development organizations around the world as they provide assistance to people in need. We do this by serving as a bridge between small non-governmental organizations and USAID; by connecting groups with relevant points of contact at USAID and informing groups of various partnership opportunities on a range of development challenges; and by encouraging collaboration among the people and organizations addressing human suffering around the world. - Enrolled in a qualifying academic program
- US Citizenship
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Min GPA of 2.0 undergrad; 3.0 grad ; Must be in good academic standing
- Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Males born after 12/31/59, must be registered with Selective Service
The intern is responsible for assisting the CFBCI by working on a number of short and long-term projects, conducting research, facilitating/planning meetings and special events, drafting documents, blogs and briefing materials, writing memoranda, and attending program discussions in the Agency or at the Department of State. The intern will also support the Director and staff with other tasks as needed. The intern works from the Washington D.C. offices of USAID and will not travel.
The unpaid intern for this position will be selected in accordance with the criteria below:
Must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week;
US citizens who have been accepted for enrollment, or who are enrolled in a qualifying educational institution.
Candidates should possess a general knowledge about U.S. government agencies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency.
Desired areas of study are from a wide variety of fields including, but not limited to, general studies, international development, middle east studies, development, program analysis, agriculture, environment, engineering, computer science, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, economics, foreign languages, area studies, business administration, accounting, auditing, criminal investigations, human resources, international relations, finance, logistics, geography, agricultural economics, environmental economics, public health, sociology, social work, child focused studies, national security studies, military and foreign affairs, political science, public policy and public administration.

You will be rated based on your qualifications for this position as evidenced by the education, experience and training you report relative to this position which shows that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Paid or unpaid experience will be considered.
Unpaid interns are ineligible for benefits. They are eligible for the transit subsidy.
