Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator

Todd Sloan currently serves as the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Bureau.

Prior to this position, Mr. Sloan served in the LAC Bureau as Acting Director of the Office of South American Affairs, and the Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) Team Lead. He has more than thirty years of overseas development experience in Latin America, including twenty five years working on DRG issues in Latin America, including programs in the areas of human rights, justice sector reform, elections, civil society strengthening, anti-corruption, legislative strengthening, municipal development, and independent media.   Mr. Sloan has served as the USAID DRG Office Director in Colombia, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras, and Iraq. Mr. Sloan has also worked in the area of humanitarian assistance, having managed programs for USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance at the beginning of his career.

Mr. Sloan began his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala and subsequently served as the Country Director of the Peace Corps programs in Nicaragua and Guatemala. He is fluent in Spanish.
