Timothy Born is USAID's Country Representative to Burundi. The son of a Foreign Service Officer, Tim was born in France and grew up in Australia, Haiti, Turkey, Australia, and India before attending boarding school at Phillips Exeter Academy.  He has a BA from St. John's College Annapolis and a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. 

Tim spent two years (1978-1980) as a Peace Corps math teacher in Mauritania. His work with USAID posts have taken him to Zaire (1982 – 1988), Liberia (1988-1989 ),  Mozambique (1989 - 2008 and 2010 – 2015), Iraq (2008 – 2010), and Afghanistan (2015 – 2016).
