Nikole Burroughs
Deputy Assistant Administrator

Nikole serves as the Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning, where she oversees the Offices of Policy and Learning, Evaluation and Research (LER). She has almost 20 years of experience in foreign policy, foreign aid and national security, working on both the House of Representatives and Senate sides of Capitol Hill, and for development and humanitarian non-governmental organizations on government affairs, strategic planning, and policy issues. Most recently, Nikole served as Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Nonproliferation of the House Foreign Affairs Committee under Subcommittee Chairman Ami Bera (D CA-07). She has previously held positions as a Senior Advisor at the Department of State during the Obama Administration where her portfolio included all State and USAID foreign assistance and domestic engagement resources, strategic planning, and congressional relations, and a Senior Advisor in the Office of Budget and Resource Management at USAID.

Nikole holds Masters' Degrees from The Fletcher School and the College of Europe, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont.
