Kirk Dahlgren is USAID’s mission director in El Salvador, with responsibility for the Central America-Mexico Regional Program and the Central America Regional Services Center. In this capacity, he oversees programs in strategy development, economic growth, democracy and education. He also oversees the local implementation of presidential initiatives, including Partnership for Growth, Feed the Future, Global Climate Change, and Central America Regional Security.
Dahlgren previously served with the Agency as deputy mission director in Nicaragua (2011-2012), and as senior development officer at U.S. Southern Command (2008-2011). In El Salvador, he served as director of the Strategic Development Office (2004-2008).
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in conservation of natural resources from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master’s Degree in international agricultural development from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
