Julie Wallace currently serves as the Deputy Administrator in the Bureau for Global Health. Prior to her current role, Julie served as a member of the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative’s (PMI) senior leadership team within USAID’s Bureau for Global Health since April 2011. From February to October 2022, Julie also served as Acting U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator leading the PMI team. 

Julie has more than 25 years of international development and public health experience and she is a proven leader and manager experienced at building and developing successful and diverse teams and partnerships. Julie has demonstrated experience designing, leading and overseeing complex global health programs and has deep motivation and commitment to public service. In 2018, Julie was the recipient of the Agency’s prestigious George C. Marshall Award for Advancing the USAID Mission. Julie has past experience working within the U.S. public health system, as a global health consultant, and service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Catholic University as well as a Master of Public Health and a Master of Nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle.
