Evelyn Rodriguez-Perez serves as an Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3). Her portfolio includes the Offices of Education and Local Sustainability.  She also serves as Acting Agency Senior Education Advisor and Acting Agency Higher Education Coordinator. She is a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service.

Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Rodriguez-Perez was Director of USAID’s Office of Education where she oversaw the development and implementation of the Agency’s strategy and policies in the education sector. Previous assignments include Acting Deputy Mission Director and Director of the Office of Education and Health for USAID/Peru; Director of the Office of Education for USAID/Egypt; and Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources for USAID/Honduras.

Ms. Rodriguez-Perez is a veteran educator for 30 years. Before joining USAID, Ms. Rodriguez- Perez worked for the city of Chicago as a school administrator as well as taught at DePaul University as adjunct staff in the School of Education. She is a returned Peace Corp Volunteer, having served in Ecuador. Following her two year commitment, she joined the Peace Corps staff as an education trainer. Ms. Perez started her career as a learning disabilities specialist and middle school teacher.  

Ms. Rodriguez-Perez received a B.S. from Winthrop College in South Carolina. She holds a M.Ed. from DePaul University and was certified as a public school principal by the city of Chicago in 2000.
