The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) wishes to highlight  the tremendous efforts of its various country missions and implementing partners who are working tireless to expand access to tuberculosis (TB) prevention, treatment and care services.

Thank you to all the people who submitted photos showcasing USAID TB stories. The winning photos will have the chance to be featured on the USAID website, on the USAID Global Health social media channels, and in the upcoming Report to Congress.

Submission deadline

The submission period has closed and we are reviewing the great photos that were sent in. We will inform the winners by August 3rd and post the best photos to our Facebook album.

Photo submissions must follow the requirements below (no exceptions):

  • High-resolution, high-quality photos that are at least 1024 pixels or larger (tall or wide) or around 300 pixels per inch. Please send the highest resolution photo possible (at least 1MB).
  • Accepted formats are high-quality JPG and JPEG.
  • Each photo caption must each include:
    • The name of photographer and organizational affiliation (if applicable),
    • Who is in the photo, what they are doing, and how it is a part of/relates to working towards a TB-free world,
    • The city and country in which it was taken, and
    • The month, day and year during which it was taken.
  • Photos must each be an original submission (submitted by photographer or with permission).
  • Individuals may submit up to five (5) photos.
  • We will not accept a photo with any overlaid logo, timestamp, or text. A USAID logo may, however, be visible within the photo (i.e. on a poster, item of clothing, device, etc. within the photo).
  • We will not accept a photo sent inside a Word document or PDF. Please send only the photo file(s).
  • By submitting a photo, you give USAID the right to use it in current and future communications. Please contact Elizabeth Kane at with any questions. We will notify you via email if your photo has been chosen as the winning entry.

  • Childhood TB
  • TB Innovation and Impact in Community Settings
  • TB Education
  • Drug Development and Vaccine Research
  • Health System Strengthening for TB
  • TB/HIV
  • TB Testing, Screening or Diagnostic Procedures
  • Fighting against TB Stigma
  • Faces of individuals (either TB survivors or current TB patients) who are comfortable sharing their story to combat stigma
  • Events focused on TB (conferences, celebrations, community gatherings, etc.)

USAID has the right to reproduce your photo in any format, including print products, on the web, and in social media. Please make sure you read the disclaimer below for full details.


By submitting a photograph to this competition you:

  1. Declare that you own the copyright of the photograph and that it is your original work (or submitted with permission).
  2. Declare that you have permission to use the visual image [PDF, 40KB] of any identifiable individual or building in the photograph for entry into the competition and that the image may be published as stipulated in the photo contest rules.
  3. Agree that USAID will not be responsible for the infringement of any third party rights in the photograph, moral or otherwise, that may arise as a result of your actions or omissions and that you indemnify USAID against all legal fees, claims, damages and other expenses that may be incurred as a result of your breach of the contest rules.
  4. Grant reproduction rights for USAID use and in doing so, agree that USAID can use your photograph for the purposes of the competition and also for future reproduction on websites, literature, and any other materials at USAID’s discretion (photographs will be credited where appropriate).
