USAID Weekly Wrap-Up

  • The head of USAID’s Humanitarian Assistance Sarah Charles traveled to Ethiopia where she witnessed a deteriorating humanitarian emergency. She called on all parties to cease violence and facilitate unhindered access to allow aid organizations to deliver life-saving assistance.
  • Sudan’s military took control of the government, undermining the country’s transition to a civilian-led democracy. USAID stands with the Sudanese people, calling for restoration of  the transitional government and end the violence.
  • Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Änjali  Kaur visited India to discuss urgent development challenges. She met with women entrepreneurs to hear how USAID support  is helping them recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19.
  • USAID announced new funding, activities, and partnerships to expand Asia’s economic growth. More than $286 million in planned initiatives will expand renewable energy, enable internet access, bolster enterprises, and more.
