The race to digitally transform business has started, and SMEs in Vietnam are trying to catch up with their larger competitors. On April 27 and 28, the USAID LinkSME Project, in collaboration with the Assistance Center for SMEs in the South of Vietnam (TAC HCM) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Agency for Enterprise Development, organized a training-of-trainers course for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on e-commerce platforms. More than 40 participants attended the training on-site in Vung Tau province with about 90 people participating online. The course introduced participants to practical toolkits on e-commerce that can be used to advise SMEs. It was a first step in developing a continuous coaching service for SMEs on working with these platforms in coordination with various associations and business support organizations that participated in the event. Such collaborative activities are part of USAID’s efforts to build sustainable support systems for SMEs that will last long after the USAID LinkSME project wraps up its work.

The e-commerce training course and subsequent coaching facilitated by USAID will help SMEs to effectively participate in the platform economy, or digital platform business models.
