Vietnam’s Ministry of Health (MoH) is transitioning tuberculosis (TB) care and treatment to be included under the country’s social health insurance system (SHI). Health facilities will need to meet specific administrative requirements or will not be able to provide reimbursable TB care under the new SHI coverage, risking treatment delays for patients. USAID’s Support to End TB project worked with the Department of Health Insurance, MoH, and the National TB Program to develop guidelines that ensure continuous care, effective referrals, and localized TB care in the patient’s community.
USAID’s technical assistance is enabling sustainable coverage for quality TB care at the primary level under Vietnam’s SHI system.
