On December 21, 2022, USAID’s Biodiversity Conservation project launched a campaign to raise public awareness of the health risks from eating wildlife meat. The campaign will feature public events and social media content highlighting the risks to public health and the environment, as well as the legal penalties that come with the illegal sourcing and consumption of wildlife.

Despite being one the world's most biodiverse countries, Vietnam is experiencing a staggering loss of wildlife. The ongoing demand for wildlife meat is unsustainable, creating a decline in wildlife populations not only in Vietnam, but also in neighboring countries. USAID partners with communities to change individual behaviors and social norms, reducing the demand for wildlife meat.
