On April 1-2 over 900 children, parents, and special education teachers participated in a USAID supported sports day for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

USAID works to build the independence and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Vietnam. Activities like this one promote this goal by focusing on these children’s abilities rather than disabilities, removing negative societal barriers.

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) INCLUSION project partners with the Vietnamese government to provide direct rehabilitation and social assistance to persons with severe disabilities, improve and expand the rehabilitation service sector, and implement policies at the local level to increase access to services that facilitate social participation and independence of persons with disabilities.
