USAID launched the JET Minerals Challenge to gather innovative ideas that will help root out corruption in green mineral supply chains and fulfill the promise of an inclusive, sustainable and just clean energy future.

Innovators from all countries and all sectors are encouraged to submit ideas on this application portal . This challenge is open to all legally registered local, national, regional or international organizations.

New and emergent green energy technologies rely on “green minerals” that will be critical for a successful shift away from fossil fuels. As the world transitions to green energy sources, many countries are poised to capitalize on the surge of demand for green minerals, but also face significant risk of corruption. In fact, more than half of the world’s nickel, cobalt and rare earth reserves are located in countries with high levels of corruption. To fully deliver the promise of clean energy, we need to protect these supply chains from systematic exploitation and prevent corruption.

That is where the JET Minerals Challenge comes in. It seeks solutions that counter corruption and strengthen transparency, accountability, and integrity in the global rush to meet the unprecedented demand for green minerals. Put forth your creative idea and help solve this complex challenge!

To make this grand challenge happen, USAID is partnering with Amazon, BHP Foundation and Chandler Foundation.
