Local Council Staff Master New Opportunities of Working with the Website

After the Muzykivska community consolidated with Skhidnenska village, the challenge for local officials was how to keep residents informed about all the changes taking place. Developing a website seemed like an excellent idea. The Muzykivska Village Council had developed a website back in  2010, but it was rarely updated as no one on the staff knew how to do so.

In 2017, Muzykivska was approached by USAID's Decentralization Offering Better Results and Efficiency (DOBRE) activity. Soon after, it became one of the pilots to implement the DOSVIT website platform, created by USAID’s DOBRE partner, SocialBoost. SocialBoost specialists facilitated the building of a brand new, user-friendly website that could be easily updated and accessed, thus serving as a useful tool for communication among local government officials, community residents, and other partners.

With the launch of the new website, other essential advantages became apparent, including the ability to more easily publish documents of various types, the improved organization of forms through links and tags, a reduced need for hard copies of documents, and increased accessibility of information at a moment's notice.

Vitalia Rtischeva, a finance specialist with the Muzykivska Village Council, explained that the website allows users to quickly locate needed documents. It also provides a wide range of applications related to e-democracy, accountability, and monitoring, including increasing access to budget information and linking to the government ProZorro platform for public procurements.

"It is truly a convenient resource by which to learn more about the community and what goes on here, to obtain the most recent news updates, as well as to utilize the electronic services that are available,” said Ms. Rtischeva.
