Bayer increases seed plant investment. Bayer recently announced an increased investment in its Ukrainian corn seed plant. Along with its seed donation, this added investment brings Bayer’s AGRI-Ukraine leverage to approximately $65 million.
Black Sea Inspections Hit Another Snag: On Tuesday, April 11, there were no inbound or outbound inspections, "as the parties needed more time to reach an agreement on operational priorities," according to the United Nations. Inspections resumed April 12, with only three inbound inspections completed. Per Reuters, Russia has allegedly insisted that inbound vessels should be selected at random, while Ukraine has been prioritizing specific vessels “based on the needs of its ports, storage and capacity.” Russia also continues to question the continuation of the deal past May 18, or 60 days after the most recent renewal on March 18.
