Independent media outlets in Indonesia face economic and political threats that the pandemic has only exacerbated. Further, the spread of mis/disinformation inhibits the public from accessing the information they need to realize their rights and hold the government and big businesses to account.

Indonesia continues to face challenges in ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights and equal access to justice for all. In partnership with the Government of Indonesia and other key local actors, the United States is expanding access to justice and the protection of human rights for marginalized groups in Indonesia.

Indonesia has conducted research showing that in Jakarta, its bustling capital city, as many as 200,000 high school graduates lack the skills they need to meet job market demands. The United States helps equip youth with skills ranging from technology to leadership to communication to boost employability and on-the-job competence. 

During the pandemic, effective and efficient health facilities and medical supply companies became more important than ever. However, in some areas, commercial credit has diminished, making it difficult for suppliers and clinics to keep medical supplies and services flowing. The United States is providing innovative financing to help address this challenge.

Kendala biaya menghambat banyak orang di Indonesia untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya. Melalui kemitraan pembiayaan inovatif, Amerika Serikat menyediakan lebih banyak kesempatan kepada masyarakat Indonesia untuk mendapatkan pendidikan tinggi dan kejuruan serta meningkatkan peluang kerja.

Inisiatif Kunci terdiri dari empat kegiatan yang berbeda namun saling melengkapi, salah satunya adalah program USAID JAPRI, singkatan dari Jadi Pengusaha Mandiri yang memberikan pelatihan, mentoring, dan menghubungkan kaum muda dengan berbagai lembaga yang akan membantu mereka memulai dan mengembangkan wirausaha. USAID JAPRI memprioritaskan kaum muda dengan disabilitas, perempuan yang menghadapi tantangan ekonomi, dan kaum muda berpenghasilan rendah.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) support PT. Pinduit Technology (Pintek) Indonesia to mobilize $16 million for education so that more Indonesians can attend vocational school or university and education institutions can provide better services to more students.
