USAID has had a steady presence in Guinea since the early 1960s, shortly after the founding of the Agency. As an important developing-country partner, Guinea is a substantial beneficiary of U.S. foreign assistance. USAID is currently working closely with the Guinean Government to improve and advance access to quality healthcare through family planning, and maternal and child health, malaria, and strengthening health programs, support long-term economic growth through  agriculture development, and promote peace, stability and the rule-of-law through our democracy, governance and conflict programs for broad-based Guinean prosperity.
