The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia activity, implemented by Winrock International, partnered with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Central Asia to hold a four-day online campaign dedicated to International Migrants Day, marked annually on December 18. The campaign shared stories of migrants to raise awareness on migrants’ rights. More than a dozen NGOs from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan joined the online campaign to tell stories of migrants who improved their lives after returning home and receiving support from the USAID-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia activity.

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: On November 3, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) commemorates a major milestone, marking 60 years since it was founded by President John F. Kennedy. USAID’s Regional Mission Central Asia joins a global celebration to mark the Agency’s 60th anniversary. The U.S. Mission to Turkmenistan is pleased to announce Lawrence Hardy II, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, has arrived in Almaty as the new Regional Mission Director for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Central Asia. Mr. Hardy will lead USAID’s regional programs across Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. USAID Administrator Samantha Power administered the oath of office at USAID Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new $19 million five-year activity, USAID Trade Central Asia, that will be implemented in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The new trade activity will build on USAID’s decades of achievements facilitating regional trade, enterprise development, and regional connectivity. USAID Trade Central Asia will take a facilitative approach towards three strategic objectives, providing the public and private sector with technical assistance to achieve these goals.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the eleventh annual Central Asia Trade Forum, an international event promoting regional trade and connectivity across Central Asia and beyond focused on post-COVID recovery and resilience in the region. This five-day virtual event includes over 80 distinguished speakers from around the world including Central Asia and the United States and 3,500 participants representing 42 countries.

September 9, 2021, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) celebrates the successful completion of its four-year USAID Enriching Youth for Tomorrow Program implemented by JA Worldwide, one of the oldest and largest youth-serving NGOs in the world. The activity improved the capacity of Turkmenistani youth to contribute to the local economy and their communities.

On September 3, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new activity for youth development in Turkmenistan. The five-year, USAID Youth Development activity, will be implemented by the QED Group and will leverage past and current USAID interventions to connect Turkmenstani youth with employment opportunities and create sustainable linkages between the youth and the labor market.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the winners of a Startup Ecosystem Program 2021 competition, hosted jointly by the USAID Enriching Youth for Tomorrow activity, the USAID Future Growth Initiative, and the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan.
