Press Release

The United States Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is sponsoring a public exhibition at the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) on June 7th and 8th, from 9:00 to 18:00. The exhibition will showcase innovative best practices in improving access to nutritious food through locally-led agricultural programs.

Since 2017, the Feed the Future Senegal Cultivating Nutrition (Kawolor) project has worked with local organizations and resource partners to expand the adoption of agricultural practices to improve the nutrition of Senegalese communities. These resource partners, including influential women in their communities, have not only increased profits from local agriculture production, but have improved the nutritional output of agriculture products. The project has impacted 150,000 households in eight regions of Senegal.

The exhibition will be inaugurated with a ceremony on June 7th with speeches given by the UCAD Rector Mr. Ahmadou Aly Mbaye and USAID Mission Director Mr. Peter Trenchard in the presence of the Government of Senegal,  private sector, civil society and the international community partners in Dakar. The exhibition will continue through June 8 with demonstration booths, technical presentations, and interactive activities to engage the public on improving nutrition in agriculture practices.

This event will highlight and reinforce the continued partnership between the Government of Senegal and the United States Government to address malnutrition and food security.
