This position is located in the Economic Growth (EG) Office, USAID/Dakar. The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to serve as the advisor for the USAID mission on issues relating to biodiversity, climate change, coastal and natural resources management, and other environmental issues. The position is responsible for the design, planning, administration, oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of biodiversity, natural resources management, urban environment, and climate change-related activities.

The incumbent will advise and counsel to the Mission Front Office, the EG Office Director, other Mission Office Directors, Mission staff and technical experts. In addition, the position is responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of current issues and best practices for forestry, biodiversity and coastal resource management, climate solutions including model interventions, and establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with senior Government of Senegal (GOS) officials, key implementing partners and local leaders, other donors, and other forestry and biodiversity professionals. As the lead for the implementation the Agency Climate Strategy, the incumbent will lead and advise on the Mission’s climate mitigation and adaptation actions. The incumbent will also be responsible for seeking opportunities to engage with communities, national and local governments, municipalities, developers, global institutions, research, and other institutions, public institutions, the private sector, donors, and other relevant players. He/She will advise on host country commitments and align Mission activities with identified priorities. In addition, the incumbent will advise USAID offices on their approaches to strengthen operations and promote climate justice.


The job holder is required to perform work-related travel.
