On June 24, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power will engage in a dialogue with Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Leader of the Democratic Opposition of Belarus at a plenary session of the USAID 2022 Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) Conference. The theme of the conference, which will include the virtual participation of USAID’s global DRG officers and the DRG implementing partner community, is Meeting the Moment: Deepening Partnerships to Stand for Democracy.” 

The Administrator will discuss democratic renewal, resilience, and protection particularly in the context of foreign malign influence. Additionally, the session will highlight USAID’s vision, priorities, and plans for advancing the state of democracy globally, and how the Agency and DRG officers can tangibly advance democracy and push back against authoritarianism.
