A CDCS is a five-year strategy at the country level that is results-oriented and fosters partnering with host countries to focus investment in key areas that shape countries' overall stability and prosperity.

This section of the Project Starter will highlight trade related considerations and examples when moving through the steps required to prepare a CDCS. Even if not explicit, trade considerations are a critical component to any development agenda and therefore should be effectively integrated into strategy. CDCS development includes preparing a Country Roadmap and then three official phases:

  1. Initial Consultations and Parameter setting,
  2. Development of a Results Framework and,
  3. Preparation and Approval of the CDCS.
