Mientras el mundo continúa soportando épocas difíciles debido a la pandemia por el COVID-19, en el caso de Ecuador y Perú se les suma la crisis política en la que, sin lugar a duda, entre los grupos más afectados están los migrantes y refugiados venezolanos. En medio de este contexto, la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional – Usaid y el Consejo Mundial de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito – Woccu, implementaron el Proyecto de Inclusión Económica en Lima, Quito y Guayaquil.

The Government of the United States of America, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide the Peruvian Government with 321 million dollars, for cooperation projects in Peru, during the next 5 years. This will be possible thanks to the donation agreement signed this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

USAID partnership with Socios en Salud, the Peruvian affiliate of the U.S. non-profit organization Partners in Health, responds to COVID-19 in Peru.

This Alliance supports aggressive contact tracing, community mobilization, and systematic screening and isolation to prevent community spread of COVID-19. The $4.43 million investment from USAID mobilizes additional $1 million from Boston-based Partners in Health.

USAID together with Cedro, through the CR3CE Alliance (Alliance for digital and financial services) and Internet for All, have signed a cooperation agreement to bring connectivity to 53 rural communities in Peru, achieving digital inclusion and social and economic development of thousands of Peruvian families.

Mitigate the adverse social and economic impacts of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations in Peru, particularly within indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon is critical. USAID and the Alliance support the Government of Peru to adequately respond to COVID- 19 crisis, particularly in under-resourced Amazon regions of Peru.

This activity seeks to reduce the impacts of the disease through an approach that integrates communication for behavior change / social change and the active participation of the organized community.

Likewise, orientation, counseling and emotional containment services will be provided to the most vulnerable populations, and economic recovery initiatives will be supported for families living in communities in priority geographic areas, taking into account their needs and idiosyncrasies.
