Deputy Assistant Administrator

Sangita Patel is the Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Global Health. A member of the Senior Foreign Service, Sangita has over 22 years of service to USAID supporting health programs across Europe and Eurasia, Africa, and Asia.

She led health programming in Namibia, Armenia, Zambia, Pakistan, and India. In India, she led USAID’s largest COVID-19 vaccination roll-out and oversaw work in health innovation and financing. In Pakistan, her work focused on strengthening maternal and child health, family planning, polio eradication, and localization. In Zambia, she accelerated TB and HIV prevention, care, and treatment in some of the hardest hit districts, while in Armenia her focus was on the health system and developing an interagency health strategy under Global Health Initiative. Finally, in Namibia, she focused on improving HIV prevention and the quality of care. Before USAID, she worked with the Carter Presidential Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the Peace Corps and German Development Organization.

She has a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College; a Master’s in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health; a B.A. in French and B.S. in Biology from Pennsylvania State University, is certified in yoga and coaches under the International Coaching Federation.
