HPP builds on the work of prior USAID-funded projects in Afghanistan, including the COMPRI-A Project, Health Systems 20/20 (HS 20/20) and HSSP to provide an 18-month bridge for high-priority elements of each of these projects while USAID determines its long term and on-budget transition implementation strategy. Key activities include support for the Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO); organization development support for the Afghan Midwives Association, the Afghan Public Hospital Association, and the Afghan National Medical Services Organization; technical assistance to the MoPH Office of Private Sector Coordination to support the identification and implementation of public-private partnerships in the hospital sector; and capacity-building and technical assistance to the MoPH/Health Economics and Financing Department to implement the 2nd Round of National Health Accounts, Master’s level training in health economics for MoPH staff, social insurance development, and costing studies.
