Current Weekly Wrap-Up:

USAID is deploying a Disaster Assistance Response Team to address humanitarian needs in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. In response to the deadly floods in Timor-Leste, USAID is providing urgent humanitarian assistance. This week, USAID recognized World Health Day. USAID helps countries to strengthen their health systems. USAID is providing $75 million in assistance to the Palestinian people, plus $15 million to support COVID-19 and food assistance.

USAID and the State Department announced $596 million in additional aid for the people of Syria. USAID will co-host a meeting with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to help drive additional financial support for COVID-19 vaccines around the world. USAID recognized Transgender Day of Visibility and continues to promote safe and inclusive work environments. In rural Rwanda, USAID and partners have launched solar energy systems powering six off-grid health care facilities.

USAID announced $52 million in additional funding for people affected by conflict in Ethiopia's Tigray region. On World Tuberculosis Day, USAID reaffirmed its commitment as the largest donor leading the global TB response. USAID is providing an additional $55 million in aid to the Sahel region in West Africa to provide food, shelter and health care. On World Water Day, USAID recognized the importance of safe water and sanitation. USAID helps millions access clean water. 

March 19, 2021

USAID launched Clean Air Catalyst, a new flagship program to combat air pollution. USAID continues to support the people of Ethiopia by providing shelter kits and critical relief supplies to people in need. USAID reaffirms its commitment to the Syrian people as the world marks the 10-year anniversary of Syria's conflict. USAID and partners are providing shelter kits to displaced families in Mozambique. USAID is providing urgent assistance to Equatorial Guinea, due to recent explosions, killing and injuring hundreds. 

March 12, 2021

USAID is providing $3.5 million to help contain Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea. USAID and The World Food Program are responding to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan with food assistance. In Kenya, USAID distributed 600 boots and 800 umbrellas to help COVID-19 health care volunteers in the rainy season. USAID celebrates Women's History Month by celebrating female leaders in our #31 Women 31 Days campaign.

March 5, 2021

As part of Secretary Blinken's $191 million funding announcement, USAID will provide emergency food assistance and crucial aid to the people of Yemen. USAID is proud to support global efforts to distribute COVID-19 vaccines, with more than 12 million doses arriving in 19 countries this week. USAID deployed a Disaster Assistance Response Team to Ethiopia to provide assistance to those affected by the conflict in Tigray. USAID is proud to have supported El Salvador reach its malaria-free certification and continues to support malaria efforts around the world. In the Philippines, USAID continues to provide disaster relief after Typhoon Rolly.
