Today, the U.S. government through the United States Agency for International Development announced $2.7 million in new COVID-19 assistance for the country and highlighted the recent U.S. European Command donation of $400,000 worth of equipment and supplies for North Macedonia’s COVID-19 response. This brings the total U.S. government COVID-19 assistance to the country to more than $9.2 million since the start of the pandemic.

Over the last four years USAID, in partnership with the Government of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Economy, and the Energy Regulatory Commission, implemented the long-awaited comprehensive reform of the energy sector. This partnership created the legal framework for an open, transparent, and vibrant energy market in line with the principles of competition and non-discrimination, better energy services to households and industry, and integration with regional energy markets.

The USAID Economic Development, Governance and Enterprise Growth (EDGE) project, is helping small businesses like Soko Gorica to grow, promoting capacity building and sustainability through training and technical assistance. Through this work EDGE is addressing key foreign policy priorities in the region by enhancing economic integration with the EU and the West.
