On September 7, 2021, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Kathleen FitzGibbon joined Nigerian Federal Director of Public Health Dr. M.O. Alex-Okoh representing Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanaire to mark the closing of a U.S. government activity that made a significant contribution to the HIV response in Nigeria over the last decade.

On September 9, 2021, USAID Mission Director Dr. Anne Patterson joined Nigerian education officials and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to mark the closing of a three-year U.S. and UK government-funded activity that significantly increased safe and relevant educational opportunities for children and youth in crisis environments in Nigeria.

On August 12, 2021, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Dr. Anne E. Patterson joined the Minister of State for Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Hajia Ramatu Tijani Aliyu to inaugurate a new primary health care Steering Committee that will help the FCT Administration improve access and delivery of primary health care to its three million constituents.

On August 3, 2021, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Kathleen FitzGibbon, joined Nigerian Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Sadiya Umar Farouq representing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Minister for Women’s Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, to ceremonially launch a four-year activity from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that will prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) in the states of Sokoto and Ebonyi.

On July 15, 2021, the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a new Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services activity to improve water resource management, increase access to proper sanitation, and encourage good hygiene behaviors in the Northwest states of Kebbi and Sokoto.
