The Somali Youth Learners Initiative

The video describes USAID's work in the education sector over a five year period in Somalia. It discusses USAID's efforts in expanding access to quality secondary and non-formal education for over 100,000 youth, with activities that ranged from teacher training in effective instruction; construction and rehabilitation of classroom and other school facilities in 60 schools across Somalia/Somaliland, including 21 schools in south and central Somali communities with no access to education before; and civic engagement activities such as sports tournaments and National Youth Days to engage youth and build their capacity to set their priorities on issues that affect them.
