U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met with the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Honorable Carlos Holmes Trujillo, on Friday in Washington, D.C. In the meeting, the Administrator highlighted USAID's close partnership with Colombia, and emphasized the Agency's commitment to helping the new Duque Administration implement Colombia's priorities. He also underscored USAID's support for the Government of Colombia and its partners to respond to the worsening Venezuelan migrant crisis, and the U.S. government's desire to work together with the free nations of the hemisphere to press for a solution to the root cause of the crisis, the political situation inside Venezuela. To date in Colombia, USAID has provided more than $44 million in humanitarian and development funding for efforts to help Venezuelans who are fleeing the chaos and repression in their country, and for the Colombian communities that are hosting them.

Administrator Green and the Foreign Minister also discussed potential opportunities to deepen cooperation between their two countries, especially in terms of continued diversification to the Colombian economy.
